Kartik Aaryan poured his heart, body , mind and soul while playing Padma Shri Awardee and India’s first paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar in Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Chandu Champion. The film recently crossed the Rs 50 crore mark, and has been going steady at the box office even in the second week.
The film earned Rs 35.25 crore in the first week, and added another Rs 14 crore over the second weekend.On its second Monday, the film crossed the Rs 50 crore mark as it minted Rs 1.75 crore. On Tuesday, the collection jumped to mint 1.9 crore and on Wednesday, it stayed steady to collect Rs 1.81 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The total collection of Chandu Champion now stands at Rs 54.73 crore.
Kartik’s journey into playing the army officer and an athlete was a difficult one, as when he began training for the role, he was 90 kgs. He had put on 15 kgs for his film Freddy which released on OTT during the pandemic. Post that he was able to drop his weight to 72 kgs and bring his body fat percentage to 7 % from 39 %.
The journey for the film from here on will get difficult, with the release of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. The film has taken a flying start at the box office, with just morning collections of over Rs 21 crore.
