Shishir has been cast as Rishi Vasishtha, the guru to Lord Rama (portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor) in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming directorial venture, Ramayana. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he described the film as an enormous and grand-scale project that is awe-inspiring in its magnitude and scope, surpassing conventional measurement.
He also expressed his joy at feeling “blessed” to collaborate with the entire team and be a significant part of such a monumental project.

Additionally, he discussed his approach to preparing for the role, mentioning that he is adapting as he goes along. As it’s his first venture into mythology, he is relying heavily on the director’s guidance. He shared that the team has conducted thorough research, and he is focused on following directions regarding posture, body language, tone, and character development.
He underscored the importance of his role, emphasizing his reliance on the director’s guidance. Sharma noted the challenge of adapting to makeup requirements, which take up to 1.5 hours per session. Despite being unaccustomed to such preparations, he emphasized the need for consistent appearance continuity throughout filming.
The actor, who began shooting for the film in April, is scheduled to continue filming until the end of July.
Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman, with Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Rakul Preet Singh as Shrupanakha in the Ramayana film. They’re shooting in Mumbai and plan to release it on Diwali 2025.
