In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Madhur discussed ‘Fashion 2,’ expressing his belief that the original film has the potential for a sequel. He noted that the fashion world has evolved, and as a filmmaker, he sees plenty of material that could be developed into a show with multiple seasons.
“But it also is apt for a film,” he added.

Bhandarkar expressed his interest in exploring the evolution of the fashion industry in ‘Fashion 2,’ though he hasn’t made any final decisions yet. He highlighted how social media has overtaken the industry, replacing traditional supermodels with Bollywood celebrities as the new showstoppers. “This is what I want to ask through Fashion 2 – where have these supermodels disappeared?” he said, noting how a girl from a small town can now become a model or influencer, which he plans to focus on in the sequel.
Released in 2008, ‘Fashion’ tells the story of Meghna Mathur, a small-town girl played by Priyanka Chopra, whose life takes a dramatic turn after she becomes a supermodel. The film received widespread acclaim and marked a significant milestone in Chopra’s career.
Madhur went on to direct films like ‘Chandni Bar,’ ‘Aan: Men at Work,’ ‘Corporate,’ ‘Traffic Signal,’ ‘Jail,’ ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’, and ‘Heroine.’ His most recent film, ‘Babli Bouncer,’ starring Tamannaah Bhatia, was released directly on Disney+ Hotstar on September 23, 2022.
