Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 has emerged as the front runner in this massive August 15 clash. While the actor is embracing success right now, the journey till now has not been a cakewalk.
Recently, the actor opened up about his meagre savings and how he relied on friends for meals during FTII days. Speaking with Sushant Sinha on his YouTube channel, Rajkummar recalled the tough days before his debut with Love Sex Aur Dhokha in 2010.He stated, “There were times there was no money. “I remember I had Rs 18 in my bank account and my friend had Rs 21 in his bank account and we were thinking how do we eat our next meal? Of course, FTII has a huge community so you call someone and ask them if you can have food at their house. Can we come? And they say yes.”
When Rajkummar Rao was asked if he ever signed a film solely for financial reasons, he explained that he consciously avoided that “trap,” as it would have been the “wrong motivation” for choosing any project. The actor recalled giving numerous auditions before landing Love Sex Aur Dhokha and how he was paid only Rs 11,000 for it, which lasted him ‘a month or so’.
Finally it was Ragini MMS, which earned him Rs 1 lakh. “I was just living hand to mouth at that point. There were no luxuries. Three of us used to share a flat. Sometimes, I would do an ad so I would get some money from there like Rs 8,000-9,000. So I somehow made it work,” recalled the actor.
