In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Sial shared his experience of being approached for a role in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.He recalled how director Danny Boyle initially considered him but later felt that the role seemed too mature for Sial. Desperate to take on the part, Sial offered to lose weight to appear younger. However, Boyle pointed out that while Sial could physically change, his years of acting experience and maturity couldn’t be reduced, cautioning that he might end up just “acting” rather than embodying the role. Amit found this reaction surprising. The role in question was Salim, Dev Patel’s elder brother, which was eventually played by Madhur Mittal.

The actor further shared that he received a message asking if he would consider another role in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, specifically the part of the police officer who interrogates the protagonist—a role eventually played by Irrfan Khan. Sial admitted that, at the time, he didn’t grasp the significance of the character in the script. “To mujhe uska importance script mein samajh nahi aaya,” he mentioned. He dismissed the role, thinking it was minor and only involved asking questions—a decision he now reflects on with a hint of regret. Sial further mentioned that the filmmaker even insisted he take the role, but he still declined. Later, he saw Irrfan Khan’s magical performance in it, but he feels that whatever happened in the past was ultimately for the best.
Amit Sial, known for his role as Inspector Maurya in ‘Mirzapur’, revealed that his performance in ‘Inside Edge’ led to him being cast in the show. Interestingly, he was initially offered the role of Munna Bhaiya, which eventually went to Divyenndu Sharma. Sial explained that he didn’t fit the role as Pankaj Tripathi‘s son, and in hindsight, he believes it was for the best. The character required a fresh energy, and Sial had already portrayed a similar role in ‘Inside Edge’.
