Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is often seen making the headlines and that too for all the right reasons. However, this time unfortunately that is not the case. Right now Diljit is in the news as he reportedly has been served with a legal notice for manipulating the ticket prices for his Dil-Luminati concert in Delhi.
A report by Free Press Journal mentions that Riddhima Kapoor, a law student from Delhi has sent a legal notice notice as she was unable to buy a ticket due to unfair practices. She has alleged the organizers manipulated ticket availability, which led to scalping and inflated prices.
“Manipulation for ticket prices, unfair trade practices, and scalping of tickets for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati India Tour” read the subject line of her complaint.
She further mentioned that though the booking time was set for September 12 at 1 pm, passes were made available for sale a minute earlier and were sold out almost instantly. She also said that she acquired an HDFC credit card specifically for early-bird passes but still failed to secure a ticket.
Citing violations of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, in her complaint she wrote -“The sudden unavailability of tickets strongly suggests manipulation and scalping practices. This abrupt transaction indicates that your organisation may be artificially inflating demand and manipulating prices.”
Besides Diljit, the notice has also gone to other parties involved, including Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Pvt Ltd. As of now, the receivers haven’t responded officially on the matter.
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh is in Pais, for his Europe performance. He will be in India in October and will cover 10 cities. Recently, his song ‘Chal Kudiye’ has been released, which is a part of Karan Johar’s ‘Jigra’ starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
