Vasan Bala’s latest directorial ‘Jigra’ featuring Alia Bhatt in the lead role is embroiled in controversy, with many claims of box office fabrication, and plagiarism with reference to Divya Khossla’s ‘Savi’. The controversies have harshly affected the film’s run. The director Vasan Bala has now opened up the claims regarding faking the box office and also the plagiarism.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Vasan Bala shared that the film ‘Savi’ came out when they were editing the film. He also stated that the film is already out there, and everyone can watch it and make up their minds. He also added that he does not want to bring down anyone or add more fuel.
Speaking about the false bookings of the film, he added, “I think, is a distribution question.” He stated that he does not feel it is that murky at all, and anyone is more than welcome to investigate.
Addressing the failure of the film, he further stated that he understands that there is ‘a certain responsibility’ in the mainstream to deliver at the box office. When asked if he is disappointed by the film’s failure, the director expressed that he does ‘feel it’. He further noted that though Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt are ‘supremely supportive’, he feels disappointed.
