Amitabh Bachchan shot till 2 am in the night so that Rakhee could watch KBC; reveals Suneel Darshan

Bollywood‘s ace filmmaker Suneel Darshan’s ‘Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love’ was the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of the year 2001. It starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor, Raakhee, and Juhi Chawla in pivotal roles.
During his conversation with Radio Nasha, the filmmaker Suneel Darshan narrated the film’s story to Bachchan, who began preparations for the role, eventually leading to their collaboration on ‘Ek Rishtaa’.The filmmaker also revealed a humorous experience involving actress Raakhee during the making of the film. When he approached her to play the role of a mother, she agreed but imposed an unusual condition. Raakhee told him that she would not be available to work between 8:45 pm and 10:15 pm, which puzzled Darshan.
When he inquired about the reason, she explained that during this time, she had to watch ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati‘ and wanted the shooting schedule adjusted accordingly. Darshan recounted how he approached Amitabh Bachchan with Raakhee’s request to adjust the shooting schedule for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. Rather than being inconvenienced, Amitabh suggested a practical solution. He told Suneel not to reject Raakhee’s condition and instead advised him to arrange a TV and cable in her vanity van so she could watch the show on set.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan’s recent outing was ‘Vettaiyan’ starring Rajinikanth. The film also marked the Tamil debut of Amitabh Bachchan
For the unversed, Suneel Darshan is best known for making commercially successful films that often centered around family drama, romance, and action. Some of his notable films include ‘Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love’ (2001), ‘Andaaz’ (2003), ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya’ (2002), and ‘Dosti: Friends Forever’ (2005).
