In a podcast with Rhea Chakraborty, the ‘Dangal’ actor opened up about his self-assessment of his performance in Laal Singh Chaddha.
He stated, “My performance as Laal Singh was pitched higher. But the original film was a hit. The reason behind that was that although the writing structure of Forrest Gump was not mainstream, Tom Hanks‘ performance was brilliant. My performance let the film down. My understanding is that my performance was not good. I’ve learned a lot from it, so maybe my performance in the next film will be better.”
As soon as Aamir said this, social media was abuzz with fans hailing him for owning upto his mistakes, which is quite uncommon when it comes to superstars like him. One fan wrote, “Kudos to Aamir Khan—not for self-criticism, but for finally owning up to LSC’s flop. Took him long enough. And the next big failure -the forced historical tie-ins were a disaster.” Another fan said, “I always believed in all 3 khans he is good in the acting category but everyone can agree he did overacting in laal singh which costs a big time and the guts to accept that thing says a lot about his character because salman and srk never accepted that after Radhe and Zero”.
Another fan commented, “Despite giving industry hits for so long , he just got a failure and had guts to say the film doesn’t work because of my acting. That man is real , eagerly waiting for sitare zameen par because if that doesn’t work against then in hindi cinema we will just get to see massy films.”

One mentioned, “Not a fan but only Aamir Khan can accept such thing publicly while most others focus on using PR to boost their fake images. Kudos to him.”
Earlier, the ‘PK’ actor further elaborated on why he feels his performance was the weak link in the film’s success. “As a creative person, I feel that we got very close to what we set out to make. A few people like the film a lot; it’s almost their favourite movie, but the majority didn’t feel connected because my performance was weak,” he said.
When asked about the importance of being honest during performance postmortems, Khan explained, “I feel like I can correct myself if my performance was weak. Weakness and mistakes are opportunities. It’s important to understand the reason for your failure. During the postmortem, it is very important to be honest.”
Khan’s next project after Laal Singh Chaddha is Sitaare Zameen Par, his first film after announcing a break from movies. According to reports by Hindustan Times, the film will focus on Down Syndrome. The film is slated for a release in December this year.
