You had choreographed a song in Secret Superstar
Dangal shoot was going to get over. Secret Superstar’s director Advait Chandan came to me and asked me to choreograph a song which was going to be at the end of the film. I thought he was joking. I laughed it off. But after a week, he called me and asked me, “Are you ready with the choreography? We want to see it now.” And that’s when it struck me that they were serious about me choreographing this song featuring Aamir Khan.

I fooled them. I thought I’ll go to the meeting, play the music and dance and share some ideas with them. I never told them that. I was giving them ideas and they really liked it. Cut to I was on set choreographing Aamir Khan for a song which was quite bizarre and unbelievable, but a beautiful experience. It was a one-take shot. It was a great experience. I have a choreographer card thanks to that song.
What did Aamir Khan say?
It was a great learning experience for me choreographing him. Because I used to give him steps and I used to think, “Oh my god, he might not be able to do it. Should I simplify these steps?” But he was never afraid to try those steps. I really admire that quality about him. He never gives up. His passion for cinema and conviction we are all aware of. But to teach him those steps was a learning experience for me than him, I think.
In the same interview, while talking about her style of working, the Badhaai Ho actress said, “I don’t have a process or method to my madness. But I do listen to my intuition. I consider myself to be fortunate to get these opportunities. I know that I am going to give my 200% to any project that I take up. I have that confidence in me as an actor and I have proven myself through my performances. I feel fortunate that producers feel confident enough to give me these roles. Whenever I am picking up a character, it’s always about what the film is about, whether I am getting drawn to the character naturally or not. There’ s a gut a feeling.”
