Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra were under scrutiny since the last few months as Directorate of Enforcement (ED) seized properties worth Rs 97.79 crore. This was in connection with the bitcoin fraud case. The ED alleged that Raj Kundra, along with others, collected massive funds from the public, summing up to Rs 6,600 crore and promised returns of 10% per month in the form of bitcoins.
Thus, ED had seized their property.Amidst all that, Raj has brought a brand new green luxury car which costs Rs 3 crore. In a video which went viral on the internet, the paps sported this new sleek car arriving at Shilpa-Raj’s Juhu bungalow. Raj was seen stepping out of the car with son Viaan.
This new car has hit headlines as it comes during the time of ED seizing their properties. These properties include flats in Mumbai and Pune. This was done under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA). Shilpa and Raj had issued a statement regarding this matter by their advocate Prashant Patil which read, “We shall follow the due process of law and take necessary steps as prescribed under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act to protect the liberty and property of my clients. On the face of it, there is no prima facie case made out against my clients Mr Raj Kundra and Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra.”
The statement concluded, “We have complete faith in the Honourable Judiciary. I believe when we make our fair representation before the Honourable Enforcement Directorate, even the investigation agencies may grant justice to us. We have faith in the fair investigation. We stand committed to cooperate with the authorities as and when required.”
