Rumours have been rife for a while now that Akshay Kumar charges a whopping Rs 145 crore per movie. This came into limelight after his movie ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ did not work at the box office and the producers suffered huge losses. Though, at that time, it was reported that he charged Rs 80 crore for the film, which was double of what his co-star Tiger Shroff charged. Amidst all these rumours and floating numbers about his fees, the Khiladi has finally broken silence on this.
The ‘Sooryavanshi’ actor was seen at summit with Ajay Devgn and both the stars opened up on everything related to their careers and the industry. At this Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, both Ajay and Akshay spoke about the fees of leading actors, which can cause to the high budget of movies. Ajay said, “The actors charge according to scripts, films, and projects. And most of us are charging according to recoveries.”
Akshay echoed his sentiment and said, “I agree with most of what he said. If we sign a film today, we don’t charge anything; we just take a stake. If it works, we get a share in the profit, but if it doesn’t, we don’t get any money.” He declared that a share in profit is awarded for successes and they have to bear the loss for failures and that’s just fair to the producers.
Ajay and Akshay were both seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ recently, where Akshay only had a cameo. The actor’s last film was ‘Khel Khel Mein‘. He has a number of movies lined up ahead – from ‘Welcome 3’, ‘Skyforce’, ‘C Sankaran Biopic’, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ among others.
