In a candid interview with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus, Akshay Kumar addressed the concerns surrounding his prolific work ethic and the backlash he has faced for his string of flops.The actor dismissed the notion of being selective, stating that there is no guarantee that limiting his output to two films per year would result in hits.
Akshay revealed that he dedicated 80 days to the making of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which ultimately failed to live up to expectations. When asked about the film’s commercial failure, he posed a rhetorical question, “Kya ukhaad liya (What difference did it make)?”
The actor went on to share the valuable advice he received from Amitabh Bachchan, who himself has weathered career setbacks. “Akshay, kaam karte rehna beta. Kaam ko mat chhorna (Akshay, don’t turn down work),” Bachchan had told him. Akshay said that he learned this lesson from the legendary actor, emphasizing that “Calculation is wrong, manipulation is wrong. Honesty is right, creativity is right. Believing in your luck is right. This is what I’ve learned.”

Despite the criticism he has faced, Akshay Kumar remains determined. He revealed that for his film OMG 2, he only dedicated 12 days to the project, as he does not want to impose himself on filmmakers and producers for longer than necessary. Additionally, he is currently working on Jolly LLB 3, which has kept him occupied for 45 days.
