Actor Ali Fazal is set to reprise his iconic role as Guddu Bhaiya in ‘Mirzapur: The Film‘, and fans can expect a grand cinematic experience.
In an interview with India Today Digital, Fazal shared his excitement about the transition from the popular series to the big screen, expressing that the film will be a major step forward for the ‘Mirzapur’ universe. Fazal, who has become synonymous with the rough and ruthless character of Guddu Bhaiya, reflected on the complexities of adapting his role for a film format.
While he is enthusiastic about the challenge, he acknowledged that his character’s depth has already been explored extensively over three seasons, leaving limited space for further expansion. “I’m truly excited about the film, as it marks a first for us,” he said, comparing the transition to the film medium with Hollywood’s Peaky Blinders adaptation. “I’m not entirely sure how much more can be explored, given that many facets have already been expanded on.”
The actor also discussed the inherent challenges the filmmakers face in distilling the intricate narrative of Mirzapur into a concise one- or two-hour film. “The goal now is to distill all the depth from the three seasons into a cinematic experience, which is quite a challenge,” said Fazal. The film aims to retain the essence of the series while offering a larger-than-life portrayal of the world of Mirzapur, with its rowdy gangsters and gripping drama.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ is set to take the franchise to new heights, with Fazal’s Guddu Bhaiya at its core.
