Bollywood star Alia Bhatt surprised fans at the ‘Jigra‘ pre-release event in Hyderabad when she turned to serenade actress Samantha.
The star, who will be back behind the microphone to croon for her next film which is also her home production, took over the mic and sang the popular track “Oo Antava” from ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ LIVE at the event on-stage.
As the song originally features Samantha, Alia after much cheers from the audience, agreed to sing the track and dedicated it to the actress, who she regarded as her ‘hero’.
“I will do it, just because Sam is here. I’ve never done it before. So this is just for you. I don’t even know what this means,” Alia said and went on to ask Sam, “Is it ok for me to dedicate this to you?”
While the actress had a hearty laugh, Rana Daggubatti, who was also at the event, gestured Alia not to sing. But Sam, being a thorough sport, cheered her on saying, “It’s all ok right now.”
The star-studded gathering was also graced by director Trivikram Srinivas. During the event, Alia expressed her gratitude to Samantha for her unwavering support, revealing that the actress took just 6.5 seconds to confirm her attendance. “I’m so, so grateful that today I have a pan-India superstar here to support my film and say such kind words for it,” Alia said.
Alia also made an impromptu appeal to director Srinivas, requesting a future film with Samantha.
Sam also cheered for Alia, and played the perfect hype-woman as she encouraged the audience and fans to give Alia a warm reception. She said, “RRR was just a Trailer of #Alia’s Talent to Telugu Audience. #Jigra will give you the entire picture!”
This appearance marked Samantha’s first since the recent controversies surrounding comments made by Telangana Minister Konda Surekha about her divorce from actor Naga Chaitanya.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Alia and Sam will both be seen taking on the roles of spies. While Alia will play the leading lady in ‘Alpha’, Sam will soon launch her web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ which is slated to release next month.
As for ‘Jigra’, directed by Vasan Bala and starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina in lead roles, the film is set to hit cinemas on October 11.
