Keough, who has been vocal about the importance of mental health, shared a post by an organisation that encouraged people to engage in meaningful conversations around the topic. She shared resources and urged people to be compassionate and attentive to those struggling.
The acterss and singer previously opened up about her grief over her brother Benjamin Keough‘s tragic death by suicide in July 2020 at age 27. In a candid interview with The New York Times, the star described the feeling of loss as being “thrown into the ocean and couldn’t swim.”
“The first four or five months, I couldn’t get out of bed,” she recalled. “I was totally debilitated. I couldn’t talk for two weeks.”
Riley, who is Elvis Presley’s granddaughter and Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, went on to say that she still struggles with accepting Benjamin’s death.
“It’s very complicated for our minds to put that somewhere because it’s so outrageous,” she explained. “If I’m going through a breakup, I know what to do with that and where to file it in my mind, but suicide of your brother? Where do you put that? How does that integrate? It just doesn’t.”
Riley’s post comes at a time when Bollywood is reeling in shock over the sudden demise of Malaika Arora’s father’s demise on Wednesday morning. Anil Mehta reportedly fell to his death from his residential balcony at 9am. While the death is currently being investigated as a suicide, a final report is still awaited.
Riley Keough was recently seen in the critically acclaimed web series ‘Under the Bridge’.
