On Tuesday, September 17, Amitabh Bachchan shared a video on his Instagram, where he vowed not to litter the streets. In the video, he can be heard saying in Marathi, “Mi kachra karnaar nahi” (I will not litter).However, the word ‘Kachra’ was pronounced incorrectly by the mega star to which he apologized and also corrected the prononciation.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Amitabh shared another video where he addressed a recent mistake, saying, “A few days ago, I made a video pledging not to litter, and I spoke in Marathi. However, my pronunciation in Marathi was incorrect.” He went on to mention that his friend Sudesh Bhosale had pointed out the error.
Sharing the video, Amitabh wrote, “Had done a video where pronunciation was wrong .. so corrected it .. Apologies (sic),”
His apology comes at a time when there is increasing emphasis on language accuracy in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, where linguistic pride is an integral part of the local culture.
On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in the sci-fi film ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘, which turned out to be a massive hit. Apart from this, Amitabh is set to share the screen with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by T. J. Gnanavel. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
