Discussing his decision not to watch Ishq Vishk Rebound, Anang Desai voiced his opinions on the trend of remakes and remixes. He criticized the practice of recreating classic films and songs, arguing that they can’t replicate the original magic. Desai believes that while drawing inspiration from old content can lead to fresh and innovative work, directly redoing stories and songs lacks creativity and fails to resonate as deeply as the originals.
When asked about remaking South Indian films for Hindi audiences, the actor noted that this approach can be justified. He explained that remakes of South Indian movies, adapted for a national audience, involve adjusting the story to fit new contexts and featuring a fresh cast. The core narrative remains, but the presentation is tailored to engage a broader audience.
He added that a recent example is the Bollywood remake of the Gujarati film Shaitaan. The remake succeeded because the Gujarati version was localized, while the Hindi version was adapted for a national audience. He praised such adaptations but criticized cases where films are merely copied without adding new elements.
