Ananya Panday is receiving positive reviews for her performance in Vikramaditya Motwane’s recent OTT movie ‘CTRL’. The actress shared how she drew inspiration from her cousin Alanna Panday and her husband Ivor to portray the role of a social media influencer in the film.
In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Ananya provided insights about her character development in ‘CTRL’.She emphasised how she and the director meticulously worked on every detail of the role. The actress also highlighted the contributions of comedian and writer Sumukhi Suresh, who was part of the writing team and brought valuable knowledge about influencers, which influenced Ananya’s portrayal.
Ananya further explained how she drew inspiration from her cousin Alanna Panday and her husband Ivor, who are couple bloggers. Their vlogs, which document everything from their relationship to their parenting journey, gave Ananya a close, personal reference for understanding the life of influencers. She observed how their lives are publicly exposed more than those of actors, which helped her grasp the sacrifices required to maintain a public persona. “Watching them was a close-to-home reference, helping me understand the sacrifices required to be a public figure, especially when your life is exposed even more than an actor’s,” she added.

In ‘CTRL’, Ananya portrays Nella, part of a picture-perfect influencer couple with her boyfriend, Joe. However, after Joe’s betrayal, she resorts to an AI app to eliminate him from her life, leading to unforeseen consequences as the app begins to take control.
Ananya’s cousin, Alanna Panday, is currently featured in ‘The Tribe’, a series centered on a group of Indian influencers striving for international success in Los Angeles. The show is produced by Karan Johar’s production company.
