Vishal Punjabi, a man who is known for filming some of the most beautiful Bollywood weddings, opened up about creating wedding videos for celebrity couples such as Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli.
In an interview with Shivani Pau’s podcast, Vishal was asked about modern-day couples wanting ‘big weddings.’ Vishal noted that it could be as grand as the Ambani pre-wedding.He also mentioned Deepika Padukone’s wedding, describing it as a beautiful love marriage that was intimate, with only 150 people at Lake Como.
Vishal acknowledged that such weddings are hard to plan and expensive. He noted that Deepika and Ranveer had no desire to create ‘viral’ content through their wedding and shared a video he made for them five years later. He remarked on the experience of holding on to the video for so long without being able to show it to anyone.
The wedding filmer went on to say that having fifty people in Como is feasible, which is what Virat Kohli did. He described cricket as a religion in India and referred to Kohli as a god, noting that Kohli and Anushka got married in Tuscany. He emphasized the beauty of their wedding, which included only their closest family and friends and about 40 people, including their parents, makeup artists, and himself.
Vishal remarked that they had a stunning wedding without any disturbances, as if a protective bubble surrounded the place, allowing them to enjoy a magical experience. He added that as he was checking in, Barack Obama was checking out, highlighting the exclusivity and beauty of the property.
Vishal revealed that the highest fee he has ever quoted for a wedding video was around Rs 3 crore, which covered a wedding spanning 35 days, four countries, and 42 outfits. He explained that the biggest challenge in shooting wedding videos is presenting someone like Deepika, who is already made to look glamorous in films by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar, in an even more stunning way.
