Arjun Kapoor is enjoying the success of his recent film ‘Singham Again‘ by Rohit Shetty, where he gained significant appreciation for his ruthless villain role in the Ajay Devgn starrer. Recently, he spoke about his ‘Gunday‘ co-star Ranveer Singh, with whom he reunited on-screen in the Rohit Shetty directorial venture. He added that both he and Ranveer were in awe of their co-star Priyanka Chopra and her immense stardom.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Arjun Kapoor reminisced about his first day on set with Ranveer Singh, recalling how they shared a laugh while filming ‘Gunday’. He revealed that they often joked about one day working together in a Rohit Shetty film. Arjun expressed that ‘Simmba’ was a turning point for Ranveer, acknowledging that director Rohit Shetty transformed the ‘Gully Boy’ actor, marking a significant shift from a boyish charm to a more mature, formidable presence on-screen.
He also shared a memory from the ‘Singham Again’ shoot, “I was delivering my dialogue, and he did his signature Marathi ‘Simmba’ style. I just burst out laughing, went over, hugged him, and said, ‘Baba, I love you so much.’” Arjun enjoyed the performance immensely, calling himself the biggest fan of the cop universe.
Arjun further revealed how he and Ranveer were in awe of Priyanka Chopra during the shoot of ‘Gunday’. He described PeeCee as a much bigger star compared to them, sharing that ‘Gunday’ was a major film for both him and Ranveer, especially considering they had only done two films each at the time.
“Priyanka was a big star—she still is—but back then, she was out of our league, just like her character in the film. She agreed to do the film with us, and we even had the opportunity to work with Irrfan sir, who played the opposing force,” Arjun emphasized.
He added that ‘Gunday’ would have been even more valued if it were released today. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film was a box-office hit.
