Arshad Warsi, a prominent figure in the Hindi film industry, has recently sparked a significant conversation regarding the disparity in pay among actors. With a career spanning over three decades, Warsi has established himself as a versatile actor through memorable performances in films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Golmaal, and Ishqiya. His recent remarks highlight a pressing issue in Bollywood: the unequal pay scale that affects not only the actors but also the overall health of the industry.
In an interview with Samdish Bhatia on his YouTube channel, UNFILTERED by Samdish, Warsi addressed the growing concern about the pay disparity among actors. He stated, “Mujhe lagta hai itna zyada jo mil raha hai nahin milna chahiye (I feel that what is being received is so much more than what should be received).” Warsi elaborated that the inflated salaries of certain stars create a divide in the industry, leading to adverse effects on those who are not as financially fortunate
Warsi pointed out that while some actors are earning exorbitant amounts, others are left to suffer. He emphasized that this imbalance is detrimental, not just to the individuals involved but to the industry’s ecosystem as a whole. “Kuch actors hain jo bahot paisa kama rahe hain, aur unko compensate karne ke liye baaki ke log suffer kar rahe hain (There are some actors who are making a lot of money, and to compensate them others are suffering),” he remarked, shedding light on a reality that many in the industry are reluctant to discuss.
The issue of pay disparity is not new in Bollywood, but Warsi’s comments bring it back into the spotlight. The actor’s perspective resonates with many who feel that the industry’s structure often favors a select few, leaving others to struggle for recognition and fair compensation.
On the work front, Arshad Warsi is set to share screen with Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar in ‘Jolly LLB 3’,
Beyond the industry discussions, Warsi also shared a personal anecdote from the set of Jolly LLB 3, where he picked up a habit from his co-star Akshay Kumar. Inspired by Kumar’s enjoyment of playing Ludo during breaks, Warsi introduced the game to his family. “We started playing Ludo at home, and now everyone is addicted. My kids, Zeke and Zene Zoe, love the game, and even my wife, Maria Goretti, joins in,” he said with a laugh.
Apart from ‘Jolly LLB 3’, Arshad Warsi is set to appear in ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.
