The Indie pop singer, 26, from Melbourne, shared an update on Instagram after unexpectedly stepping back from social media.Recovering in London, she revealed that the rare heart condition infective endocarditis had suddenly and frighteningly affected her health, causing distressing repercussions.
Gretta, who gained recognition after winning Triple J Unearthed in 2016, shared that she felt fortunate doctors identified the disease early when she first noticed symptoms. After completing a lengthy course of intravenous antibiotics, she was discharged from the hospital two weeks ago. ‘Due to the fact that I am stable, the doctors have encouraged me to spend time regaining some strength and immunity outside of hospital,’ she wrote. ‘While I’m still dealing with some complications, it’s already been healing being back out in the world,’ she continued. ‘I know I will be telling this story in more detail when the time is right but for now I’m processing the trauma and taking things slowly.’
