NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was tragically shot dead on Saturday, October 12, in Mumbai. The shocking incident occurred just hours after he shared a heartfelt message on social media celebrating the festival of Dussehra. Following his death, numerous celebrities took to social media to express their condolences and share their grief.
Among those mourning Siddique’s death was actress Bipasha Basu, who shared a photo of him on her Instagram stories with the message, “Strength to the family.” Her words reflected the sentiments of many who felt the loss deeply.
Saqib Saleem expressed his heartbreak over the news. In an emotional post, he stated, “Heartbreaking to read about Baba Siddique’s demise. My interactions with him were always filled with warmth and love. May his soul rest in peace. Strength and prayers to the whole family in these tough times. Praying for justice. The people who were behind this should not be spared.”
Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, also shared his devastation: “A man who embodied kindness, bringing people together wherever he went. My partner has only lost a brother-in-law, but a guiding light, someone she saw as a second father. Baba, your loss is unbearable, but those responsible will answer for it.” His words explained that Shilpa Shetty saw Baba as a father figure; last night Shilpa was visibly emotional after meeting the family of the late Baba Siddique at Lilavati Hospital.
Shamita Shetty also expressed her shock and disbelief: “Shocked to hear about Baba Siddique!! What happened!!! May his soul rest in peace, and may God give his family the strength to deal with this terrible loss.”
The news of Siddique’s death prompted immediate reactions from Bollywood stars. Salman Khan, a close friend of Siddique, halted filming for ‘Bigg Boss 18’ to rush to the hospital upon hearing about the tragedy. Sanjay Dutt was among the first to arrive at Lilavati Hospital following the shooting.
Apart from Bollywood stars, TV actor Mahhi Vij also shared her grief on Instagram, posting photos that featured her daughter alongside Siddique. She wrote, “We love you forever. I still can’t believe someone who protected all of us and pampered us. Tara kidhar hai. Arre mera bacha Tara (Where is Tara? Tara, my child). We will never hear these words again. Tara is lucky to have gotten so much love from you.”
She continued, “The kindest, generous, and loving Baba. We all felt so protected and didn’t know how to face this. As tears roll down, all I want to say is we had you, and we lost you. You gave us so much, Tiger ho aap aur hamesha rahoge (You are and will always remain a tiger). We love you.”
