Vicky Kaushal’s latest release Bad Newz seems to be running out of steam as it spends more time at the box office. The film received a very good opening, thanks to the great music and Vicky’s star power, but unfortunately the film hasn’t been able to sustain the start it got. Bad Newz minted over Rs 29 crore in the first weekend and Rs 42.85 crore in the first week.
The film began to see a decline in its collection from the first Monday itself and it continued till the second weekend, where it saw a jump in numbers.In the second weekend, Bad Newz earned Rs 9.15 crore despite facing competition from Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the Hollywood blockbuster which minted Rs 66 crore over the weekend.
Bad Newz witnessed a drop of nearly 70 percent on Monday as it collected just Rs 1.15 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 53.15 crore. Interestingly, Bad Newz earned less than Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, which is in its fifth week and scored Rs 1.25 crore on Monday.
Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk starrer Bad Newz will be facing more heat from this Friday, as Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha releases. It will be followed by John Abraham starrer Vedaa, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar led Khel Khel Mein arriving on August 15.
