Vicky Kaushal’s latest film Bad Newz, which highlights his talent as a dancer and comic performer, has hit a roadblock. The film has been struggling to cross the Rs 60 crore mark for days despite the huge start it received in the first week. Bad Newz earned Rs 29.7 crore during its first weekend and ended the first week with Rs 42.85 crore. It was able to add just Rs 14.15 crore in the second week, taking the two week total to Rs 57 crore.Trade was expecting Bad Newz to cross Rs 60 crore mark over the second weekend, but the film failed to achieve the score.
On Friday, Bad Newz earned Rs 50 lakh, on Saturday the numbers jumped to Rs 1 crore and on Sunday, the collection was Rs 1.40, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 59.90 crore. The performance of the film was severely impacted by the release of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which minted more than Rs 100 crore at Indian box office. Bad Newz revolves around Triptii Dimri’s character experiencing heteropaternal superfecundation with twins from Vicky and Ammy Virk’s characters.
Vicky’s next release is Laxman Utekar and Dinesh Vijan’s Chhava – a biopic on Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj with Rashmika Mandanna playing his wife. Post this historical drama, he will start work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
