Bhagyashree will soon be back on the big screen with her 1989 film, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya‘. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film marked her debut and Salman Khan’s second film project. Known for setting new benchmarks in love and romance, the highlight of the movie was the chemistry between Salman and Bhagyashree.
Now, with the movie being re-released for its 35th anniversary on August 23, fans are excited to catch the jodi on the big screen again.While millennials are ready for a trip down memory lane, Gen-Z will get to watch it in theatres for the first time.
In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Bhagyashree expressed her joy about the re-release and shared that she is ‘beyond thrilled’. She said to the portal, “To think that a whole new generation will experience the magic of Maine Pyar Kiya onscreen is just incredible!”
She went on to add, “It’s a timeless love story and to have it connect with young hearts today is like watching the film come alive again. I’m eager to see how Gen-Z resonates with the pure, simple romance we portrayed, she revealed.”
Back in the 80s, while shooting ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ with Salman and Bhagyashree had no idea the film would become such a huge success. She said, “While we were shooting, it just felt like we’re telling a beautiful story.”
She also added, “It’s humbling to know that it left such a lasting impact.”
After ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ was released, Bhagyashree became a household name, and reportedly opened up doors for her in the film industry.
Despite all the love the film has received over the years, she said that she wouldn’t want a remake as she thinks “some stories are timeless.” Speaking to the portal, she added, “There’s also something sacred about the original. It represents an era and a kind of love story that is unique to that time. While it would be exciting to see how a modern version would look, I personally feel that the magic of the original should remain untouched. Some classics are best left as they are.”
