Jiya Shankar was one of the most popular contestants on the second season of Bigg Boss OTT.

Bigg Boss — the name itself is enough to remind audiences of all the ugly controversies surrounding the show and its contestants. While the latest season of Bigg Boss OTT has already taken a dramatic turn with heated arguments and twists, former contestant Jiya Shankar has stirred controversy with her recent remarks on social media. Known for taking part in Bigg Boss OTT season 2, actor Jiya Shankar was seen lashing out at a troll for making racist comments on her picture. But what exactly happened that led to the actress’ fierce outburst?

To begin with, an X user in a now-deleted post shared a picture of Jiya Shankar posing with a group of boys, sharing a fun moment. However, he captioned it with a mocking remark that read, “I hate my mind…time to go to hell.”

Irked by his comments, the actress instantly confronted him on the microblogging platform and also called out the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell Department for taking action. The actress criticised the user for his “cheap mentality” and racist opinions. “I hope you rot in hell! So women are not supposed to take pictures with black people, be it their friends/colleagues/fans or people like you will come out with their cheap racist p*rn addict mentality thinking of p*rn even if it’s a normal decent picture? Now I know why p*rn is banned in our country! People laughing & supporting this shit should be ashamed of themselves,” she wrote.

The original post has been deleted, but not before it grabbed the internet’s attention. Many took screenshots of the picture along with his comment. Fans also took to Jiya’s comment section and supported her stance. A user wrote, “Exactly!!! What else can we expect from such people? Please take action Mumbai Police.”

Another commented, “Multiple people are trolled on social media on a daily basis but that doesn’t mean it should be normalized or appropriated. Such incidents are the causes which have led to many suicide cases so much so that I believe there should be strict rules for the same.”

A user shared a screenshot of the original post and asked the Mumbai Police to look into the matter.

“Love the way you take a stand for yourself,” one praised the actress.

Having gained major recognition for her work in the television industry, Jiya Shankar has appeared in shows like Kaatelal & Sons and Pishachini. She also featured in the Riteish Deshmukh-starrer Marathi film Ved. She was last seen on Bigg Boss OTT 2, however, couldn’t make it to the finale.
