Talking about her father’s cousin, Anjini told News18 Showsha, “Varun’s journey is very inspiring. And I never felt the burden of achieving what he has. I’m very proud of the family I come from. I’m very excited about watching all their movies. I’m the biggest fan of the Dhawans. If anything, I only get to learn from them.”
Moving on, Anjini said that being launched by her grand-uncle David Dhawan was not even an option. “It was never even a conversation. It was understood. I never had the guts to go up to David chachu and say that he should launch me. It has never been like that in my family. The mantra of our family is that you’ll achieve what you genuinely deserve. And once you do that, you’ll have everyone’s love, support, and blessings. And that’s exactly what has happened, ” she added.
Surprisingly, no one from her family was even aware that she was auditioning for the movie. She said, “Everyone found out that I’m making my acting debut only after I signed the film. I didn’t want to tell them because I knew there would’ve been a hundred opinions. And I was so confident that Binny And Family was the film I wanted to start my career with because the story was very personal to me, and I didn’t want to get confused. Much like everyone else, I do get influenced by my family. It’s just that I wanted this decision to be mine alone.”
Binny and Family co-stars Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar and Charu Shankar. It will hit theatres on September 20.
