The series that has been building up on the character’s love life for 3 seasons, will finally see the bachelor step up on the marriage mart.Considering that the character has been pansexual in the three seasons, exploring relations with men and women, the teaser announcement has ignited speculation and excitement among fans, particularly regarding the character’s sexuality.
The upcoming season will follow the events of Julia Quinn’s third ‘Bridgerton’ novel, ‘An Offer From a Gentleman’. The novel tells the story of Benedict’s quest to find a “lady in silver” he meets at a masquerade ball, who turns out to be a low-born woman named Sophie Beckett. After the makers changed Francesca’s love interest from a man named Michael Stirling to a woman, Michaela, one fan put in a request on social media saying, “Please give him a male love interest, Shonda.”

Another added, “I need Benedict Bridgerton to be gay, please please please!” A third fan expressed, “He’s already so hot and charming. How can they make him even more desirable? Can’t wait!”
In the past 3 seasons, Benedict has been seen as a man who is reluctant to settle down, however, this changes when he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.
Season four will consist of eight episodes, with filming taking place in London.
Netflix’s official logline for season four confirms Benedict’s love interest remains the same as in the book. It states, “The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
In a June interview with Variety, new ‘Bridgerton’ showrunner Jess Brownell hinted at Benedict being the lead in season four and discussed the decision to reveal his pansexuality during season 3. “I knew that people out there had a feeling Benedict might be queer,” Brownell said. “And personally, it made sense to me. He’s not just open-minded; he seems like the type of person who wouldn’t be as concerned with gender, someone who might be more fluid and pansexual. He’s really attracted to someone’s spirit. And so it felt like we should make sense of those pieces that were in Seasons 1 and 2. That was what we were attempting to do with his storyline.”
According to showrunner Jess Brownell, the new season won’t arrive until 2026.
