These guest stars, appearing always with eccentric persons and astonishing plots, have given fans the finest memories.
Since its inception in 2008, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (TMKOC) has curled the audiences’ ribs with its blend of situational comedy, social messages and popular characters based in Mumbai’s fictional Gokuldham Society. Though most of its characters have won the hearts of millions, some celebrities have tried to spice up the humour of the show. These guest stars, appearing always with eccentric persons and astonishing plots, have given fans the finest memories. Here are five memorable guest appearances that added the icing on the cake:
Surbhi Chandna as Jethalal’s ‘Secretary’
Heaping praises for her performances in multiple shows like Ishqbaaz and Naagin 5, Surbhi Chandna was simply perfect in portraying a character that was both comic and confusing at the same time on TMKOC.
Surbhi portrayed Jethalal’s secretary but with a funny turn. Her character becomes confused and starts claiming that she is his wife in a bid to sort a misunderstanding. This confusion takes an explosive turn almost immediately and the subsequent episodes feature moments that are sure to leave the audiences in splits as everyone in the Gokuldham Society is caught in the crusade against Jethalal’s ‘secretary-wife’.
Mahira Sharma as Taarak’s Sister Anjali
The Bigg Boss 13 contestant underwent a massive transformation in the show.
Mahira appeared on TMKOC wherein she played the character of a new member of Gokuldham Society – Anjali, sister of Taarak Mehta. She incorporated familial feelings into the programme’s humour. Her relations with the Mehta family were wonderfully dramatic and miraculously comedic.
Simple Kaul as the Spirited Gulabo
Simple Kaul has been applauded for delivering powerful characterisations and her appearance on TMKOC was no different.
Being a Kashmiri woman who claims to be Jethalal’s wife, Gulabo aka Simple Kaul stirred up a lot of laughter within the Gokuldham Society. The bold statement sent the comedy haywire with the entire society being bewildered at the idea of a double life that Jethalal leads.
Rakesh Bedi as Taarak Mehta’s Editor
Rakesh Bedi is a comedian and supporting actor in India, who has vast experience in doing films and TV shows.
He took up the role of the editor and helped out Taarak Mehta to address some personal matters. This character created a good break from the traditional boss-employee relationship while still making his character funny and approachable mostly due to Rakesh’s natural personality.
Kari Irwin Otteburn as the Cultural Crossroads ‘Kerry’
To give a cultural flair to the show, American actress Kari Irwin Otteburn joined as the character Kerry in TMKOC.
While being an American character dealing with the crazy folks of Gokuldham Society, Kerry’s track added a fresh, cultural-comical aspect to the show. Her character inserted funny factors of cultural differences and language misunderstanding.
