Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion backed by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Kabir Khan is less than 24 hours away from release and in the next few hours the film needs a very big change in its fortune to open with big numbers on day 1. The film has till now sold about 13493 tickets from nearly 4000 shows, collecting Rs 39.72 lakh as per Sacnilk.WIth block booking, the film has earned about Rs 1.06 crore till now.
Kartik has put in his life and soul to play the character of Murlikant Petkar who is India’s first paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar for swimming, and a Padma Shri award winner back in 2018. To play the role, Kartik had to master two sports, one was boxing and another was swimming, his swimming coach Virdhawal Khade, in an exclusive interview with ETimes, shared that after having a look at Kartik swimming, he was sure that he wouldn’t drown which became a starting point for his swimming training and the end result is for everyone to see in the film.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the actor opened about his process of getting into the role of Mulikant Petkar and how taxing it was. He said, “ Building this body took a lot of patience and it took really long. I had never imagined a film like this, genre like this and this is something I’ve never attempted. For me, I was trying to give my 200 percent – be it the psyche or physique in every way possible. We did a lot of workshops, reading sessions. We did a lot of workshops with a dialect expert to get the Marathi lingo and to not overdo it. There’s always a thin line between making it sound correct and overdoing it. All said and done, I’m really proud of this film.”
Going by the buzz about the film, the future of the film pretty much depends on the good word of mouth and hopefully with that, the film will do big numbers by the end of the day.
