Kartik Aaryan dedicated himself fully to his latest release, Chandu Champion, portraying Padma Shri winner and India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Kartik underwent a significant transformation for the role, reducing his body fat percentage from 39% to just 7% and dropping his weight from 90 kgs to 72 kgs.And the box office rewarded his hard work with the week 1 collection of Rs 35.25 crore.
The film also entered the week on a steady note, as it earned Rs 2.5 crore on Friday. This is despite it facing competition from the new release Ishq Vishq Rebound, and Abhay Verma and Sharvari’s Munjya. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 37.75 crore and it will be aiming to reach Rs 45 crore collection by the end of the week.
Next week onwards the competition will get even more intense, with the release of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. As the film is carrying a lot of expectation and will be getting a wide release, the Kartik starrer might have to give up its screens to accommodate the multilingual film.
