Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has admitted to assaulting Renukaswamy, according to a charge sheet accessed by News 18. The charge sheet reveals that Darshan confessed to kicking Renukaswamy after receiving a call indicating that Renukaswamy had been brought to a town shed. Upon arriving at the shed in Pattanagere, Darshan, along with associates Pavitra Gowda and Pawan, allegedly assaulted Renukaswamy, who was seated on the floor.The document states that Darshan kicked Renukaswamy on the chest, knee, and other parts of his body, causing him to fall. Additionally, Darshan reportedly struck Renukaswamy with a tree branch and questioned him about his salary, which Renukaswamy tearfully stated was 20,000. The charge sheet also mentions that Renukaswamy’s head struck to Leyland Dost’s car parked in the shed.
Darshan is currently held at Ballari Central Jail, having been transferred from Parappana Agrahara Central Jail with court permission. This move came after a photograph of him with three others, including a known rowdy went viral, causing public outrage. In the viral image, Darshan is seen seated comfortably, holding a cigarette and a coffee mug. Additionally, a video of Darshan speaking to someone via video call from the prison also surfaced on social media.
On Monday (Sep 9), a court extended the judicial custody of Darshan Thoogudeepa, along with his friend Pavithra Gowda and other co-accused, until September 12. All 17 accused, including Darshan and Pavithra, appeared before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court via video conference from various state prisons. The police also submitted a comprehensive 3,991-page preliminary charge sheet last week.
