Coldplay's Chris Martin falls through trap door on stage during Melbourne concert - WATCH

Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, took a tumble during a dramatic on-stage mishap at his band’s concert in Melbourne over the weekend.
Viral videos from the concert see the star falling through an open trap door mid-performance. The incident took place as the singer was interacting with the audience and welcoming many from around the world. While walking backwards on stage, the disappeared from view after stepping onto the trap door, which had been left open as part of the concert’s elaborate stage setup.
Videos show fans gasping in shock as Martin fell into the hole. However, he was able to quickly recover as he landed in the arms of crew members. “Thank you for catching me,” he told the crew.
“That’s, uh, not planned,” he insisted and added, “Holy s—, that was nearly a YouTube moment.”

Meanwhile, Martin is only the latest musician to take a tumble on stage. Just last week, Olivia Rodrigo made headlines when she fell into a trap door. Madonna also took a tumble in February while performing in Seattle, while Nelly Furtado fell during her set at Coachella. Carrie Underwood and Nick Jonas also accidentally fell while performing on-stage.

Coldplay has been in the news the past month, since it was announced in October that they will bring their ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour to India. The band added two shows on the 18th and 19th of January, 2025, at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. Owing to high ticket demands, the band went on to add another show on January 21.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said last week that it has detected alleged irregularities after it conducted raids in a money laundering case to probe “black marketing” of tickets for the “highly anticipated” music concert by the British rock band. The ED said in a statement that it initiated an investigation after numerous reports emerged that individuals and fans were being “deceived/cheated” through “fraudulent” ticket sales after the rapid sellout of entry passes. The agency took cognisance of multiple police FIRs filed in the case across the country, including one filed by online ticket booking portal BookMyShow, against several suspects “believed to be exploiting concert-goers.”
