Actress Sanya Malhotra, who played Babita Phogat in Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, took to Instagram to show her support for Vinesh Phogat after she was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 due to being overweight by 100 grams in the 50 kg category.
Sanya penned a heartfelt message for Vinesh, which reads, “True champions are defined not by a single moment but by their resilience, and you have shown incredible strength and dedication throughout this journey, Vinesh! There’s no one like you! @vineshphogat.”
Many people have expressed their sadness about the disqualification, which has caused widespread disappointment.Given that Vinesh Phogat was considered a serious contender for the gold medal, her supporters must be especially hurt by this loss.
Farhan Akhtar also came out in support and wrote, “Please know that we are all very proud of you and all you have done for the sport. You will always be a champion and an inspiration to millions.”
Alia Bhatt too took to Instagram to write a long note for Vinesh and called her a woman of gold. She wrote, “Vinesh Phogat you are an inspiration to the entire nation. Nothing can take away you resilience, nothing can take away your courage & nothing can take away your hardships you’ve been through to create history! Today you must be heartbroken to say that least and we are heartbroken with you. But woman you are gold, you are iron and you are steellll!!! AND NOTHING CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU! A champion for ages! There is no one like you.”
On Tuesday, Vinesh made history as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final. She defeated Cuba’s Yusneylys Guzman 5-0 in the semifinals and is also the first Indian woman to win gold at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
