After the controversy that took place around Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, whose photograph and video taken inside Bengaluru’s Parapana Agrahara Prison has gone viral on social media. The images and footage show Darshan, who is currently in judicial custody, engaged in activities that have raised serious questions about the conduct of the prison authorities and the ongoing investigation into his alleged involvement in a murder case.
The undated photograph that first surfaced shows Darshan casually smoking a cigarette and chatting with three others in the garden area of the prison. Among the people in the photo is Wilson Garden Naga, a known associate. Darshan is seen holding a cup in one hand while conversing with his companions.

Soon after, a video of Darshan making a video call from within the prison also began circulating. The video, which is about 25 seconds long, captures a man in a yellow t-shirt initiating the call. Darshan eventually comes on the screen, cheerfully waving at the person on the other end. The brief exchange, which takes place in a brightly lit room with a curtain and hanging clothes visible in the background, shows Darshan smiling and nodding as if everything were normal.
The recent viral photo and video have only added to the controversy, As per a report by Indian Express the father of the victim, Kashinath Shivannagoudar, expressed his frustration with the ongoing investigation,
he said, “Though we trust the state police, it is sad that the murder accused are enjoying. We feel a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation is needed”.

These images and videos have sparked outrage, especially among those closely following the investigation into the murder of 33-year-old pharmacist Renuka Swamy. The case first gained public attention in June when Darshan and his alleged girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda, were arrested for their alleged roles in Swamy’s death. Reports suggest that Swamy, a fan of Darshan, made derogatory comments about Gowda on social media, which allegedly led to a confrontation that escalated into violence.

Darshan is accused of confronting Swamy in his garage, where the situation turned deadly. Allegedly, the actor tortured and killed Swamy before disposing of his body in a drain.
