Deepak faced personal turmoil when reports surfaced in 2017 about a public fallout with his wife, Shivani Tijori. Allegations claimed that Shivani had asked Deepak to leave their Goregaon home, suspecting him of an extramarital affair.
Shivani not only filed for divorce and maintenance but also reportedly restricted Deepak to a single room in their home and instructed the staff to withhold food from him. Following these events, Deepak was said to have moved into a friend’s place.
While Shivani filed for maintenance under Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Deepak countered by claiming their marriage was invalid. He alleged that Shivani had not finalized her divorce from her first husband, thus questioning the legality of their union.
Although Shivani and Deepak remained silent on the issue, Shivani’s sister, actress Kunika Sadanand, addressed the situation. She expressed skepticism about the timing of Deepak’s claim, questioning how a 26-year marriage could suddenly be deemed invalid. Kunika suggested that the story might be deliberately leaked to sway court opinions during the ongoing divorce and alimony proceedings.
Amid the turmoil, Shivani spoke out, condemning Deepak for his actions. She mentioned that she couldn’t provide details due to the ongoing legal case but emphasized that Deepak had breached all standards of decency, morality, and legality. She highlighted the gravity of his actions in their 22-year marriage and as a father to their daughter.
