Rajesh Khana, the man who stole hearts with his charm and created a legacy with his work was hardly afraid of anything in his life. However, according to an anecdote shared by Asha Parekh, the actor was scared of one thing, or let’s say, someone. It was his ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’ costar Asha Parekh.
In an old episode of Indian Idol Asha shared about his introverted nature and recounted “Actually he was scared of me.Because he had just started his career so he would just be a little hesitant. One day, he looked at me and turned his face so I felt very bad. I said, ‘no dates’. After that, he was scolded. Then he called me and he said I didn’t mean it like that. He said it was because he was scared of me,” she recalled.
Asha Parekh and Rajesh Khanna made one of the most loved jodies back in the days. Their chemistry in movies like ‘Baharon Ke Sapne,’ ‘Kati Patang,’ ‘Aan Milo Sajna’ and ‘Dharm Aur Qanoon,’ was lauded by cinephiles all around. While their charisma was the talk of the town, this hidden secret about his personality and the way the veteran actress talks about him says a lot about the late star.
Meanwhile, Asha Parekh recently appeared at Arbaaz Khan’s show where she delved into the past rumors of marriage with Shammi Kapoor. Addressing the speculations, she humorously responded, “Yes, we were married.” She even spoke about the complexities of her relationship with Shatrughan Sinha and mentioned a poignant anecdote when Guru Dutt expressed skepticism to her mother about Asha’s potential as a leading lady.
However, it is safe to say that Guru Dutt’s skepticism was for nothing. Asha Parekh’s through several movies not only proved that she has what it takes to the leading lady of Indian cinema, but showed herself as an epitome of sheer talent.
