Vicky Kaushal is making a name for himself by showing off his acting skills and versatile performances. But, during his early days in the film industry, the actor faced his share of rejection.
Did you know, Vicky once auditioned for a broker’s role in the film ‘Ghanchakkar‘, which starred Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan? Abhishek Banerjee, who was a casting director for the film, revealed that Kaushal auditioned for the film but was ultimately rejected.Speaking to Galata India, he shared that although they loved him and were impressed by his performance, he didn’t make the cut. “Some actors just surprise people in auditions, and Vicky was one of them,” he said.
Banerjee further praised Vicky Kaushal, calling him a star. He recounted watching ‘Zubaan’, where the actor played a rockstar. He recalled being so impressed that he called that hunk to tell him, “Vicky, you are a star.”
Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, ‘Ghanchakkar’ is a heist black comedy-drama. Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan play the lead roles in the film. The story centres on a married couple, played by Sanju and Neetu. Neetu is dissatisfied with her mundane life and desires the comforts of wealth, while Sanju, an ex-con, seeks to lead a straight life. The film was theatrically released on June 28, 2013.
On the work front, Vicky Kaushal is set to portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the son of the Indian warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, in the film ‘Chhaava’. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 6, 2024. Additionally, he will also star in ‘Love And War’, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
