This year has seen several bit-ticket clashes at the box office. The most recent include the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and ‘Singham Again‘ box office battle and the upcoming face-off between ‘Gladiator II‘ and ‘Wicked’. With many other films booking the same release date, Bollywood filmmaker Rahul Dholakia is advising against it.
On Monday, fans of actor Tom Cruise, were treated to an epic action-packed teaser of his upcoming film ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’. Sharing the clip online, Cruise wrote on his social media handles, “Every choice has led to this. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. May 23, 2025.”
Reacting to the Hollywood superstar’s post, director Dholakia cautioned fellow Bollywood filmmakers against releasing any Hindi films on the same date. The much-anticipated action thriller, which has a huge fan-following in the country, is set to premiere worldwide next summer and Dholakia predicts it will dominate the box office.
Urging filmmakers to steer clear of the competition, he tweeted, “Don’t release any Hindi movie on this day!”
The director’s warnings come after ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’, which released in 2023, scored an impressive Rs 100 crore box office collection. The film became the actor’s third 100-crore release in the country. Meanwhile, the actor’s film ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ also scored an impressive Rs 50 crore in domestic markets.
‘Mission: Impossible’, known for its over-the-top action, has consistently drawn audiences worldwide. The film series has grossed $4.13 billion at the global box office and is among the highest-grossing film franchises of all time.
At the moment, no other Bollywood film is scheduled to release on May 25, 2025.
