After Divya Khossla accused the Vasan Bala directorial Jigra of copying her film Savi, which was released in May, filmmaker Karan Johar posted a cryptic message, appearing to address the controversy. His post read, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools,” suggesting a subtle response to the accusations without naming anyone. Divya has now responded strongly to Karan’s cryptic post and slammed both Karan and Alia for ‘shamelessly’ ignoring her claims.
Taking to her Instagram story, Divya wrote, “When you are shamelessly accustomed to stealing what rightfully belongs to others, you will always seek shelter in silence. You will have no voice no spine.”
On October 12, Divya escalated the issue by accusing Alia Bhatt of inflating box office numbers for Jigra. She claimed that the film’s collections were rigged, stating, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra’s show. The theater was empty… Alia Bhatt bought her own tickets and announced fake collections. Why is paid media silent?” followed by hashtags like ‘#weshdnotfooltheaudience,’ ‘#truthoverlies’ and ‘#HappyDussehra.’
Jigra ‘Jigs Up’ Box Office Collection? Alia Bhatt Lands In Another Controversy
The feud began when viewers noticed similarities between Savi and Jigra. Divya’s film follows a housewife’s mission to free her husband from a high-security prison, inspired by the mythological tale of Savitri and Satyavan. On the other hand, Jigra centers around Alia Bhatt’s character orchestrating a jailbreak to save her brother.
While acknowledging the similarities, Divya expressed pride in being the first to explore the genre. She stressed that despite the overlap, both films have their own unique stories and journeys.
