Ram Pothineni‘s much-anticipated action film ‘Double iSmart‘, directed by Puri Jagannadh, hit the screens on August 15th, 2024, with high expectations. However, despite the buzz, ‘Double iSmart’ has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike.
The film opened to a decent start at the box office, earning Rs. 7.5 crores on its first day. According to reports by Sacnilk, the Telugu version of the film had a strong occupancy rate of 63.98% across shows on opening day, with the afternoon shows seeing the highest turnout.In contrast, the Hindi version of the film had an occupancy rate of 33.35%. The movie had a pan-India release.
‘Double iSmart’ features a high-octane plot centred around the character Big Bull, played by Sanjay Dutt, who makes his Telugu debut in this film. Big Bull runs a global drug and weapons cartel and returns to India with a mission to avenge his mother’s murder. The story takes a dramatic twist when Big Bull is diagnosed with a brain tumour and to cure himself he needs a memory transfer, and Shankar, played by Ram Pothineni, is identified as the ideal candidate due to a USB port embedded in his head.The movie brings together a mix of action, drama, and romance, but it remains to be seen whether it can replicate the success of its predecessor. The movie is the sequel to the 2019 hit ‘iSmart Shankar‘.
