Former NCT member Taeil is currently under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a foreign woman, with the accusations drawing significant attention. On October 7, it was confirmed that Taeil is facing charges of aggravated quasi-rape, a serious offence under South Korean law.
New details emerged on allkpop.com, revealing that Taeil, along with two acquaintances, allegedly assaulted the woman while intoxicated. The current charges imply that the multiple people involved in the crime could potentially get a prison sentence of at least seven years to life.
The incident has been unfolding since June, when the Seoul Bangbae Police Station received a report from the victim, leading to Taeil’s booking on June 13. While SM Entertainment, the agency representing Taeil, became aware of the accusations in mid-August, they only made the news public in August 28.In addition to the police investigation, attention was drawn to a blind item made two months ago on the Seoul National University (SNU) online forum, where an anonymous user had hinted at the incident. The post, titled “NCT Taeil Incident,” claimed that the case had already been handed over to the police and involved multiple individuals, including an NCT member.
The two other individuals involved in the case are reportedly not public figures.
In an official statement, the agency announced Taeil’s departure from NCT, stating that his involvement in team activities was no longer feasible due to the seriousness of the allegations.
