Kareena Kapoor, alongside producer Ekta Kapoor and director Hansal Mehta, dazzled at the trailer launch of ‘The Buckingham Murders‘ in Mumbai on Tuesday. Clad in a sleek black pantsuit, Kareena exuded boss-lady vibes, captivating everyone with her elegance and poise.
During the event, Kareena spoke passionately about her role in the film, revealing how deeply it resonated with her. “The character has so much soul.I felt it was the right time for me to embrace this role, to really feel the depth of the character. It’s a departure from the roles in ‘Crew’ or ‘Jaane Jaan,’ which also released this year. I believe it’s an actor’s duty to continuously explore different dimensions,” she shared. Kareena also touched on the challenges of balancing her personal and professional life, expressing, “I enjoy the hustle of working while being a mother and a wife. Jeh was with me on set, and that made the experience even more special.”
Adding a lighthearted touch to the event, Hansal Mehta recounted a funny behind-the-scenes moment involving Kareena and Saif Ali Khan’s youngest son, Jeh Ali Khan. Mehta revealed that Jeh, in a classic toddler moment, mischievously grabbed a continuity prop during one of the scenes. “Jeh took away a continuity prop,” Mehta said, sparking laughter from Kareena, Ekta, and the audience.
Kareena filmed the crime thriller in London, where she was joined by her son Jeh, turning the shoot into a “workation.” In 2022, she frequently took breaks from the set to explore the city and go sightseeing with Jeh. ‘The Buckingham Murders’ marks Kareena’s first venture as a producer. Set in London, the film follows Jasmeet Bhamra, a single mother and police officer dealing with the trauma of losing her child in a shooting incident. The narrative is inspired by Kate Winslet’s character in ‘Mare of Easttown’ and Sean Penn’s role in ‘Mystic River,’ both of whom portray single parents coping with profound personal loss.
