Veteran Bollywood actress and BJP MP Hema Malini found herself in an awkward situation while attending an event in Mumbai on Wednesday, August 21.
Hema, who was attending an event alongside singer Anup Jalota and several others, was seen interacting with fans and posing for photos. However, she was irked when a lady placed her arm around her back while posing for the cameras.In the clip, the actress is seen shrugging off the lady’s hand, clearly uncomfortable with the gesture. She was heard saying “Haath nahi…” while gesturing for the woman to move aside.
On noting the actress’ displeasure over her actions, the lady was seen bringing her hands in the front and standing by Hema’s side. The veteran actress even made sure to turn a little to ensure she maintained some distance while posing for the photos.The video, posted on Instagram by a celebrity photographer, has since gone viral, sparking conversations online about personal space and the respect owed to public figures. “Don’t touch people without CONSENT,” said a fan.
Another said, “Nothing wrong here. Even I wouldn’t like a stranger putting her hand on my shoulder. People need to understand boundaries & personal space.”

Still another fan defended Hema saying, “It doesn’t matter if the person is male or female. You wouldn’t like a stranger put their arms around you, celebrity or otherwise.”
Following the minor hiccup, reports state that Hema continued to engage with attendees at the event, maintaining her composure throughout the evening.
