The sequel to the highly anticipated and Oscar winning film Inside Out has smashed the box office record the globe. The film, in just three days of its release, has minted about US $ 295 million as per Box Office Mojo. Of the total amount, US $ 155 million has come from the US domestic market, it is the biggest domestic opening since the release of Barbie which opened to US $ 162 million, and is the second highest opening for an animation film following The Incredibles 2 which opened to US $ 182.6 million.
Coming to India, the film has just about managed to do decent business. It on Friday, opened to Rs 1.55 crore and on Saturday, it saw a nearly 56 % jump to collect Rs 2.43 crore. And on Sunday, the film jumped by another 30 % to mint Rs 3.47 crore, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 7.62 crore.
“Inside Out” tells Riley’s story through the perspectives of five emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. In the sequel, as Riley matures and undergoes physical and emotional changes, new emotions join the mix, including Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Boredom.
In India, the makers have roped in young star Ananya Panday to voice Riley’s character in Hindi. Ananya will be soon making her OTT debut with Call Me Bae which is backed by Karan Johar‘s production house.
