About 20 years ago, Shahid Kapoor charmed his way into the hearts of millions of cinegoers, with his cute looks and dancing abilities as Rajiv with his debut film Ishq Vishq. The makers of the film have now come up with a ‘spiritual sequel’ of the film, which is being lead by a new cast of Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Naila Grrewal and Jibraan Khan.To cash on the nostalgia, the makers brought back some of the famous songs from the original film and they became instant chartbusters.
But coming to box office numbers, the film has opened to a very low number of just Rs 85 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk, with overall occupancy of just 15.37%. Of the main centers like Mumbai and Delhi, the film had 276 and 324 shows respectively. While Mumbai had an overall occupancy of 18.75%, Delhi had a 15 % occupancy.
The journey ahead for the film looks a bit difficult, as despite and young cast and good music, the reviews of the film aren’t very glowing which might turn away the audience. Also on the other hand is Dinesh Vijan’s horror- comedy Munjya, which is doing great business and next week is also the release of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD with Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, and fans might want to save their time and money for that one.
