For the past few years, John Abraham has been struggling to get box office openings, be it Satyameva Jayate 2 or Attack, or Ek Villain Returns or Mumbai Saga or his latest action flick Vedaa. The film released on 15th August, to cash on the long 5 day-weekend, but the film has been struggling from Day 1 itself, not only because it clashed with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2, but also because the action film failed to connect with the audience.
The John Abraham and Sharvari starrer began its journey on a good note by earning Rs 6.3 crore on 15th August, Thursday.. On Friday however, the film dropped to Rs 1.8 crore. On Saturday, it witnessed a small spike to reach Rs 2.7 crore and Rs 3.2 crore on Sunday. Monday, which was a partial holiday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the film collected only Rs 1.5 crore, and on Tuesday which was technically its first week, the film crashed to just Rs 60 lakh, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 16.10 crore.
John’s next release is going to be Tehran, where he will share screen space with Manushi Chhillar. He’s also most likely to be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Houseful 5 with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Boman Irani. On the other hand, Sharvari who plays the titular role in Vedaa, is shooting for her next film Alpha, with Alia Bhatt. Hrithik Roshan is set to make a cameo appearance in the film, expanding YRF’s Spy Universe.
