Dead & Company are currently lighting up Las Vegas with their Dead Forever residency at the Sphere. With six shows left until the run wraps up on August 10, John Mayer faces an extra challenge: adapting to a new setlist each night. As he performs with just three functional fingers due to a recent injury, he’ll need to master a wide array of songs each evening.

John Mayer, reflecting on his commitment to the shows, said, “I’ve always felt like every part of me belongs to these performances. It’s my duty to return to the stage each night without mishaps, and I apologize for the recent trouble. The music‘s power and the love for these shows will see us through. See you tonight!”

After their residency ends, the future of Dead & Company’s live performances remains uncertain. Having wrapped their “final tour” in 2023, they returned to Vegas, citing the residency as a special exception. Mayer expressed hope on Watch What Happens Live in October 2023, saying, “We’ll continue to play shows because of our deep love for the music. We’re just working out what that will look like moving forward, but everyone is committed to keeping the music alive.”
